Héritage est une table basse confectionnée avec des carreaux de faïence, minutieusement dessinés par mon arrière-grand-mère. Il s’est écoulé soixante-dix ans depuis la création de ces carreaux, initialement destinés à orner une table basse en bois dans le foyer familial. À travers des déménagements et des sinistres, le reste de cette table a succombé, laissant derrière elle ces carreaux bleus, pour la plupart brisés.
Ces fragments constituent mon dernier héritage, porteur de l’artisanat artistique de ma famille genevoise, ainsi que des croyances transmises par les femmes de ma lignée : l’astrologie et la lecture du ciel. En 2023, il m’est apparu évident de leur offrir une nouvelle vie en les intégrant à un nouveau châssis, ramenant ainsi ces pièces chargées d’histoire dans notre foyer.
These fragments represent my last inheritance, carrying the artistic craftsmanship of my Genevan family and the beliefs passed down through the women of my lineage: astrology and the reading of the sky. In 2023, it became evident to me that they deserved a new life, integrated into a new frame — bringing these history-laden pieces back into our home.
L'histoire de Many débute comme celle de nombreux artisans suisses, avec la confection de cadrans d'horlogerie, avant qu'elle ne devienne apprentie retoucheuse photo.
Son parcours professionnel prend une nouvelle direction lorsqu'elle rejoint les rangs de l'entreprise suisse Caran d'Ache, où elle s'illustre en colorisant des photographies à l'aide de crayons Prismalo sur négatif.
Cependant, c'est au cours des années 1950 que Many, autodidacte passionnée, se consacre à la peinture sur porcelaine, explorant également lart délicat de la dorure sur ce même support.
Cette période marque un tournant significatif dans son parcours artistique. Bien qu'elle continue de créer des œuvres pour elle-même, Many étend son talent aux cercles proches, laissant ainsi un héritage artistique qui transcende les générations.

was born on May 25, 1903, in Geneva. Within our family, she was affectionately known as “Many.”
Our great-grandmother’s legacy endures through her exceptional art — porcelain painting.
Many’s story began like that of many Swiss artisans, with the crafting of watch dials, before she became an apprentice photo retoucher. Her professional path took a new direction when she joined the Swiss company Caran d’Ache, where she distinguished herself by hand-coloring photographs using Prismalo pencils on negatives.
However, it was during the 1950s that Many, a passionate autodidact, devoted herself to porcelain painting, also exploring the delicate art of gilding on this same medium. This period marked a significant turning point in her artistic journey. While she continued to create works for her own pleasure, Many extended her talent to those close to her, leaving behind an artistic heritage that continues to transcend generations.
